Nigerian actor Deyemi Okanlawon has revealed that he temporarily quit acting in 2019 due to dissatisfaction with the quality of work and financial rewards in the industry.
Deyemi explained that despite his passion for acting, he reached a point where he felt unfulfilled and decided to leave the profession.
According to him, the income from acting at the time was not enough to justify the effort and dedication required.
“So, I quit acting in 2019. I quit because the pay was nonsense, the work was nonsense. And I just felt like I didn’t leave 9–5 work to come and do mediocre work,” he said.
The actor added that it became difficult to continue waking up every day to do work that did not bring him satisfaction.
“It was difficult to wake up in the morning and go to work, and what is the point of being passionate about something and then not being fulfilled by it,” he added.
After leaving acting, Deyemi revealed that he returned to a traditional 9–5 job before eventually finding his way back into the entertainment industry.
